Courtly pillars, grand staircases and splendid gardens blend with the Mississippi-style waterways and gracious Southern hospitality. “Mosey over” to Alligator Bayou and discover its rustic architecture, front porches and meandering walkways. A stocked fishing hole, country-style pool, flowered fields and two-story cottages create the nostalgic romance of down-home charm.
Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort Riverside was designed to reflect the antebellum south along the Mississippi River in Louisiana. The Sassagoula River runs through the middle of the resort; giving it that Southern Mississippi charm.
Port Orleans Riverside is a Moderate resort in Disney World’s tiered resort system. As the name implies, this Disney hotel features amenities and prices somewhere between the Value resorts and the Deluxe resorts.
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort Riverside Rooms
The Southern charm continues into the guest rooms. The resort includes two types of buildings: Southern manors (Magnolia Bend) and backwoods cottages (Alligator Bayou). The decor of the rooms mirrors the theme of the two areas. The Magnolia Bend rooms have oak wood furnishings with elegant accents. The Alligator Bayou rooms have a rustic feel.
Most guest rooms in the Moderate level resorts include a double sink that is separate from the bathtub, shower, and toilet, and has a privacy curtain or door, so that guests using the sinks and vanity area can have a partition from the rest of the guest room while allowing another guest to use the toilet and/or shower.
The standard rooms include two queen beds and one king bed is available in select rooms. Rooms feature a table and a couple chairs, as well. Some rooms in the Alligator Bayou have new Murphy beds that pull down to reveal a scene inspired by “The Princess and the Frog.”
In addition to the two different themed buildings and rooms, the Royal Rooms provide an additional room theme and category. These rooms are ornate in every sense of the word with Disney details everywhere. The Royal Guest Rooms feature an headboard with fireworks and twinkling fireflies.
The resort offers bus service to all 4 Disney theme parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom), both water parks (Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach water park), and Disney Springs. Additionally, you can take a boat ride down the Sassagoula River to Disney Springs. The boat ride takes about 15-20 minutes.
