With captivating storytelling, beautiful photography and unique videos, the latest enhancement for guests offers a new and intelligent guide to exploring the visitor complex. Follow your own customized tour accompanied by audio, detailed maps, fascinating facts, historic and current photographs, and other exclusive content on this handheld digital “tour guide” device. Watch historic footage of rocket launches, such as Mercury-Redstone, and examine photographs of space artifacts or locate the closest restrooms and dining facilities using the multimedia guide.
Coming soon – Augmented reality, 360 degree views and GPS technology that will pop up appropriate content available while exploring the visitor center.
International versions include audio and subtitles in selected languages including English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese and Mandarin Chinese, and content includes the Kennedy Space Center Bus Tour. An American Sign Language and audio descriptions are available and the guides are American Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant.
Available for rent at Information for $9. Guests are required to present a valid credit card for which a hold of $5 will be placed. When the guide is returned in working condition/not damaged to Information, the hold for $5 will be released by the close of business.
Take Kennedy Space Center Home with You
Choose between the standard headset (with three different designs to choose from: Astronaut, Exploration and Atlantis) or the premium headset which includes a head strap. The user’s phone will sit inside the headset latched in by Velcro. The Space Visor will be sold at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex’s Space Shop and the online Space Shop.Once the headset is purchased, the three respective applications can be downloaded: KSC 360 Expedition, Space Dreams and Edge of Home. These applications can be downloaded from either the Apple App Store or Google Play for Android systems. The applications in both the Apple and Android marketplaces are free of charge. For optimal experience, minimum recommended devices are flagship 2015 or newer including the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the iPhone 6S. Internet is required to download the applications but is not needed for application use. Each application requires 500 MB of free space to install. (1.5 GB in total)
