The Land of Oz Garden circus-like play area, based on the Disney fantastical film adventure “Oz The Great and Powerful,” which debuted March 8, 2013. The interactive children’s play zone will feature play systems adorned with giant flowers and designed to stretch kids’ imaginations and muscles. Midway-style games, circus-themed game tents and the “Oz Movie Garden” of intriguing plants will capture the spirit of the upcoming film. Also on tap in the Land of Oz Garden: photo opportunities, movie posters, a play area and the “great and powerful Oz’s” crashed hot-air balloon. The The Land of Oz Garden is located on the Imagination Walkway, just prior to entering the World Showcase area of Epcot
The inspiration for the Garden, the movie Oz the Great and Powerful, is an American fantasy adventure film directed by Sam Raimi. The film is inspired by L. Frank Baum’s 1900 novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and is the prequel to the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz. The film stars James Franco as Oscar Diggs, otherwise known as the Wizard of Oz. It also stars Mila Kunis as Theodora, Michelle Williams as Glinda, and Rachel Weisz as Evanora. The film is produced by Joe Roth and co-producers Grant Curtis and Joshua Donen, and will be released by Walt Disney Pictures in traditional 2D, as well as in the Disney Digital 3D, RealD 3D and IMAX 3D formats.
While the 2013 Epcot International Flower and Garden festival kicked off on March 6, The Land of Oz Garden opened a few weeks prior to build anticipation of the new film in advance of its release. Children and adults alike have enjoyed all the beautiful garden and play area have to offer. The Festival runs through May 19, 2013.
