Can I call home or work from the ship?
In addition to dedicated locations where you can take advantage of ship-to-shore calling, Disney Cruise Line features Cellular at Sea phone service—so you can use your own cell phone or wireless PDA just as you would on land. Available from most cell phone carriers including AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile, this service is currently accessible in staterooms.
Guests who have AT&T as their cellular provider are able to purchase cruise bundling packages to save on cellular phone service costs when sailing. These cellular cruise packages will work onboard the ship as well as in ports of call when traveling on cruises to Canada, Mexico and The Caribbean. The packages are purchased directly through AT&T. AT&T provides Guests the flexibility to sign-up for this offer before getting onboard or while cruising (Free call from the ship or on shore). To add one of these packages, the Guest should call: 1.800.335.4685 or +1.916.843.4685. Guests using AT&T as their carrier can find out information at www.att.com/cruiseships. Guests using other cellular carriers should contact their provider to obtain information on rates.
What’s an assembly drill – and do I have to go?
Everyone on board the ship must participate in a compulsory safety drill before departure to comply with Coast Guard and international safety regulations. All passengers are required to attend.
There’s so much to do on the ship! How will I know what’s going on when?
Each morning, a newsletter called the Personal Navigator is delivered to your stateroom. It includes a complete listing of all onboard activities, adventures and entertainment. Extra copies are available at Guest Services (on Deck 3, Midship), where Cast Members will be happy to assist you with any questions. Plus, Guests can access this information electronically while on board the ship if they download the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app before arriving at their embarkation port.
What is the “Disney Cruise Line Navigator App” and where can I download it?
Now you can receive valuable information directly on your mobile device during your cruise thanks to the official Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. Guests sailing with an iOS or Android smartphone are invited to experience the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app during their sailing. This free app is available in the Apple App StoreSM or Google Play™ store and will only work when utilized on board the ships. Download the latest version of the app before you leave home so that you can experience the convenience of having the Personal Navigator—the Disney Cruise Line daily newsletter detailing all there is to see and do-in an electronic version right at your fingertips once on board.
Is there children’s programming on board?
Of course! Supervised children’s programs and activities are available on the ship from 9:00 a.m. to midnight for children ages 3-12. Children must be age 3 and potty trained in order to participate. Children must be able to interact comfortably within our counselor-to-child ratio groups of 1:15 (ages 3-4) and 1:25 (ages 5-12) and within our established age groupings of 3-4, 5-7, 8-9, 10-12. We are unable to provide one-on-one care. A child who shows symptoms of physical illness such as fever, vomiting or diarrhea or who becomes disruptive within the group may be excluded from participation. Parents sign their children in and out of the programs. Events have been designed for teens as well, ages 13-17. Teens do not need to be signed in and out by parents. There is no additional charge for these planned events.
Can I work away from home? (Business Services)
We know how important it is for business people, even when they are on vacation, to keep in touch with responsibilities at the office. You’ll find a full range of business services at the Walt Disney World® Resort and on board the ship available for an additional charge, including an Internet Cafe.
What if someone gets sick?
For your convenience, a physician and nurse are on call 24 hours a day to provide basic medical services on every cruise. The physician and nurse are employed by a company independent from Disney Cruise Line. But please keep in mind that a child who shows symptoms of physical illness such as fever, vomiting, diarrhea, unexplained rashes or discharge from the nose or eyes may be excluded from participation in programming as well as from babysitting services in “it’s a small world” nursery! Standard prevailing fees will be charged for all physician and nurse services. If you require any prescription drug, be sure to bring an adequate supply in its original container. You should keep it in your carry-on luggage so it is easily at hand.
Could the ports of call ever change unexpectedly?
Very rarely. We only divert from our scheduled Ports in cases of extreme weather (such as hurricanes) or during other circumstances that may challenge safety. When time permits, we always try to alert Guests to possible Port changes prior to sailing.
Why are children in diapers not allowed in the pools and spa?
The United States Public Health Service requires that only children who are toilet trained be permitted to enter swimming pools and spas on board cruise ships. For the safety of our guests, we are taking every precaution to inform them of these USPHS requirements.
Are alcoholic beverages and sodas free?
Free sodas are available at the Beverage Station on Deck 9 of the Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder. There are 2 Beverage Stations on Deck 11 of the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. However, you must pay for alcoholic beverages and sodas at the bars and lounges onboard.
What age must a Guest be to drink alcoholic beverages on the ship?
The standard drinking age onboard is 21, and a valid photo I.D. is required. In recognition of the expectations of our international Guests, for roundtrip cruises departing from European countries with drinking ages lower than 21, parents or guardians sailing with their 18- to 20-year-old children and/or wards may sign a Beverage Consent Form. This will allow the child or ward to consume alcoholic beverages onboard while in the adult’s presence.
Please Note:
- All Guests must comply with all laws and Disney Cruise Line policies related to the consumption and distribution of alcohol, including among other things, agreeing to not provide alcoholic beverages to any other person, regardless of age.
- This policy is subject to change without notice.
- Disney Cruise Line reserves the right to refuse sale and/or service of alcoholic beverages to anyone.
What is the smoking policy while onboard?
Disney Cruise Line has never allowed smoking in Guest staterooms. In addition, smoking is prohibited in all interior spaces throughout our ships and on stateroom verandahs. In an effort to provide a cruise experience that satisfies both our non-smoking and smoking Guests, smoking (including the use of electronic cigarettes) is only permitted in designated areas of the ship.
On the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, smoking is permitted on:
- Deck 9, port-side, forward open-air deck.
- Deck 4, outdoors starboard side from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. only.
On the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, smoking is permitted on:
- Deck 4 port side, aft, the outside Promenade Deck from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
- Deck 12 port side, aft, the outdoor area that is accessible through the Meridian Lounge.
- Deck 13 port side, forward, by Currents Bar.
Guests who are found smoking in their staterooms or on their verandahs will be charged a $250 stateroom recovery fee. This fee covers deep cleaning that includes air filter replacement, carpet extraction and the cleaning and replacement of drapes, comforters, blankets and pillows.
We have carefully considered which areas of our ships to designate as smoking and non-smoking, and we do periodically review our policies to ensure continued Guest satisfaction.
