How to Get from Disney to Universal Studios

With the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter, many guests staying at the Disney Hotels or Orlando area hotels want to spend a day at this new Universal Studios Park. Disney does not provide transportation to Universal Studios from the Disney Hotels, so how do you get from Disney to Universal Studios? There are several ways to get from the Disney Hotels and the Orlando area hotels to Universal Studios. The best way is also the free way!

Destinations in Florida Travel offers a ticket called the 1-Day/2-Park Pass and it includes free shuttle transfers from the Disney Hotels and Orlando Area Hotels. The free shuttle transfers are on board Mears Transportation. It is an easy process. You call Mears about 24 hours before you are visiting Universal Studios to schedule your pick up time. Then you are picked up outside your hotel for your day at Universal Studios.

Once you are done playing at Universal Studios, you call the same number to schedule your pickup time to head back to your Disney Hotel. In the afternoon, the shuttle runs every hour (quarter after) from 3 PM-2 AM. This means you can stay and play at CityWalk after your day at Universal Studios and then take the shuttle back to your resort.

The free shuttle transfers saves you from $90 on transportation from Disney to Universal Studios. Plus, this ticket is also saving you $10 per person off the regular gates prices. The 1-Day/2-Park Passes with free shuttle transfers are $114 per adult plus tax and $106.03 per child (3-9) plus tax. You can click here to order these tickets.

Another transportation option is renting a car. Disney World has an Alamo Office right in the middle of the resort at the Walt Disney World Car Care Center. You can rent a car for the day and head to Universal Studios. Be sure to take parking at Universal Studios into your budget, since this is an additional cost when renting a car. Alamo will pick you up at your Disney Resort and take you to their office. After your day, they will also take you back to your Disney Resort. So, you don’t have to worry about transportation from your Disney Hotel to the Alamo Office.

If you are not a planner, you may just want to take a taxi for your transportation. You can always catch a taxi outside your Disney Hotel or you can call 407-699-9999 to get a taxi. The price is right around $45 each way plus tip for a taxi from the Disney Hotels to Universal Studios.

These are three ways to get from the Disney World & Orlando area hotels to Universal Studios. For more information about the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter, visit http://www.wizardingworldpark.com.

  1. thanks for this info it makes the travel less stressful

  2. Travel is pretty stressful if there is no itinerary and also if there are different charges for each. This makes it easier and even fun for the whole family.

  3. When returning from universal to disney do we still call ahead of time even if it is between the times it runs hourly? I am confused as to ow to use the mears transportation and can not figure out their website. Tanks for any help

    • Yes, Lori. You do still call Mears Transportation from Universal Studios to schedule your pick up. The shuttle does run hourly in the afternoon/evening. You still have to call to schedule your spot. This is to make sure there is enough seating for whoever is picking up the shuttle and to let Mears know if they need additional transportation for a specific pick up time.

  4. Hi! In this article, it lists the price of a 1-day/2-park ticket with shuttle transfer as $114/adult. Is this still the price? When I click the link, it shows $148/adult. The difference in price makes a difference in whether my group of 5 will be able to take advantage of this offer or not. Thanks!

    • I have tried several times to look at the price from the contemporary hotel to universal studios and it keeps coming up with at van or a car to rent one way for some price of 50-60.00. I am confused, can anyone help me with Mears Transportation. It lets you look at Busch Gardens, but nothing for universal.

      Kathy
